I want to be able to hunt both day and night without having to change optics.I know there are night vision scopes that are good for both but I don't want to spend $1000 or more for that luxury.I already have a very nice scopes on all of my guns.

I have an ND3x50 and was really amazed with the visibility out to 200 yrds. Biggest problem is in low temps, but I see they now have the "sub zero" model which is supposed to take care of this. The second weakest point would probably be the mount, it seems somewhat flimsy, although I've never had one break or give me any real problems. For the price, it's probably the best alternative to night vision out there.

That comparison is apples to oranges. The light produced by the ND3's are visible to hogs, yotes, etc. while the NV scopes collect light rather than project it.

Some have good results using the ND3, and others complain that their targets get spooked as soon as they are lit up.

If you get the ND3, make sure it is the 2nd gen or whatever they are calling the improved version. The originals had a lot of issues in cold weather. had to wrap them in hand warmers to get them to work.

the XLR 250 kill light is the way to go.nd3 do not work in cool weather they have also had tons of issues with it.i use a gen 3 mono to skan and the XLR 250 light to shoot with.

Not even close. ND3 is a long range flashlight essentially.

Buy the xlr 250 or you will have wasted both time and money for day/night shooting. The nd3 is over priced. It sux in the cold the mount is cheap and it spooks your game because the concentrated light particles burn retinas in both human and animal eyes.

Posed the same question a week or so ago, got pretty much the same answers. Went with the ewt xlr 250 kill light. Haven't got to use it in a hunting situation yet but played around with it this past weekend and was amazed at the light output. Only had my sight in targets at 100 yards but could easily see Target, Target lines, and scope cross hairs. Not only could I see them my buddy sitting about 5' to my right could see everything I was seeing thru his scope. Best part is picked it up locally at allstar archery for $130, less than half the price of the nd3!!!

i have an ND3. I just got my warranty replacement back, 1st one started to lose focus, it was projecting a half moon beam. They work good when they work, you will see hundreds of eyes reflecting back at you at night, it is amazing how many critters are staring right at you and you have no idea they are there until you get one of these. Only issue I had was watching a feeder and waiting for a sounder to cross a field to come in to eat. There was some exotic at the feeder that spooked at the ND3 and the hogs took off too. Hogs and deer dont seem to mind the ND3 on em.
