Two random shots by "hunters" and two people were hit? Many many millions-to-one odds of that happening. This story doesn't pass the smell test to me. I suspect there's a lot more to it than what we're hearing.

Something doesn't seem right either with this story, 2 shots in the same place both striking each boy? Doesn't sound like a hunter with an accidental shot(s). I want to see what else happens as this story develops.

I predict the dude with the .223 is a homeboy that was supposed to shoot the two kids on the court, and the other guys with the real deer rifles were legit hunters.

Prayers for their recovery and for their families. That being said.... I agree, there is something not right about this. 2 shots and 2 people get hit and the nearest ranch is 400 yards away. If that was an accident it is an unbelievably far fetched one but could happen. I understand why they are looking at the hunters as the possible cause but it's sad that even if it was not them the perception will never go away.

it could very well have been a hunter, if he fired two quick rounds.... but he had to have known a school is nearby!!!!!

I didn't think it passed the smell test either. I think the media is just grabbing onto the "Hunter" part of the story for sensationalism. It sure seems like it must have been intentional, at least on some level.

Regardless, I feel for those boys.

only a thug would hunt with a .223 ? lol.have killed lots of deer with a .223 ! wife killed all of her deer with it last year. and i have filled all of my tags with it for at least 3 years now. caliber has nothing to do with it. its who is behind it . and no. i havent lost one yet.

I am betting that as this develops the hunters will be exonerated.

It was probably a gun that was involved in "Fast & Furious" and I'm sure the government will hush it up. We may never know the real story.

The guy was number one illegally here. Number two the criminal (thug) was in possession of a so called assault rifle on U.S. soil which he wasn't a citizen of.
Number three he was tresspassing.
Number four, this was in Edinburg which is not too far away from the border and the drug trafficing.
So with all that, and it is deer season, I guess that is the best excuse he could come up with!

400 yards stray shots!! Smells funny... I dont see 2 moving targets getting shot by accident. At 400 yards you are aiming at what you are shooting. Hope the boys come out alright
