Hey guys, i did some scouting for ducks yesterday and saw a ton of snipe. What size steel shot would you use for snipe? I read 7 but have not found any as of yet. I found 6 steel though. I was wanting to pick up a box to take with me when i duck hunt that way if im not doing well with ducks or limit out then i can switch over and shoot some snipe.
thanks ryan

If I am not waterfowling I use dove loads. You can get winchester 2 3/4 steel 6 and 7 shor for under 6 bucks to take when duck hunting though.

thanks guys. go figure when i went to get them i could only find the 7s...so i bought the winchester 2 3/4 #7's which i think will work great. Yeah kdub, i wanted the steel just so i could carry them while im waterfowling. Plus, even when im not waterfowling i dont want to be using lead shot around the lakes.

When targeting them alone I use dove loads. If the needs are for steel I usually use 7s (1st choice) or 6s. Everyone I've shot this year has been with 2s.

My argument would be "GW do you see any decoys? I'm not wearing camo, and I have a pillow and a stick" They can't prosecute you for using lead for snipe hunting if you are not hunting waterfowl. Lead kills.

If you shoot a semi, make sure the speed is at least 1325 fps, that will cycle through your gun much better

yeah, its a personal choice...i dont use lead around water. Steel only even if lead is legal. Ill only use lead for field and forest hunting.
