Doing research on crossbow injuries.
Many hunting forums have postings containing conversations about crossbow injuries. If anyone has experienced a crossbow injury, please take a moment to take a quick survey at;

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dE9jUWUzZE5hUG1wclgzRy1rc29LT2c6MQ

Just the other day at a BassPro in Orlando FL, a 16 year old with his parent went to buy a crossbow. While on the BassPro shooting range the youth fired the Styker crossbow and amputated the top portion of his thumb. This according to the archery department manager. Its just that easy.

Numerous accounts of finger(s) & thumb amputations. A few bolt injuries from strings and or limbs breaking.

This by know means is a "bashing" thread, but for research information. Please serous survey responses.

Thank you,

Crossbows are like firearms, compound bows, knives, cars ect...
Improperly used and injuries can and will happen.

How about you give us some background info on your "research"?

Is this "legal research" to help in a suit against Barnett?
I'm just guessing based on your username.

When I first got my crossbow a couple of years ago, I had my thumb in the wrong place while shooting, and the string hit it ONCE and only ONCE. It hurt like a SOB and is a mistake that I will work to never repeat.

Accidents happen, and it wasn't the crossbow's fault.

I haven't had any incidents with my crossbow, but I have hit my finger with my 28 oz hammer on several occasions. scratch

this guy would probably have you believe that it is the hammers falt. maybe we should put another warning sticker on the hammer that says, "don't hit your finger or it will hurt". thank the lord for lawyers.

You should give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars your from Texas.

Most accidents are from human error, not the product.

I have never hurt myself with a crossbow because I stayed at a Holiday Inn express

I was at Bass Pro or Cabelas, I can't remember which on. Well anyways, I was shooting a crossbow and the limb and arrow broke at the same time. The arrow stuck through my hand and I had to ride to the hospital with the crossbow attached to my hand due to the placement of the arrow. It also cut off both of my thumbs.

Wait....No. That was a story I heard on the internet. Forget about what I said. Sorry.

While I was feeding and grooming my crossbow last night, it spontaneously combusted and killed me. Can you help me with this problem?

This same question has been asked on numerous other boards. Sounds fishy for sure.

My wife has been using her's for two years, killed two deer, shot hundreds of bolts(along with me for target practice) and we have NEVER had any issues or injuries!!! If you are truly wanting experience from ALL sides, be sure to get back with me....but, if you are trying to gather up support for a lawsuit, I bet you don't!

Aww come'on fellas. Let's all take the survey and get really "creative" with the "other" answers.

Tolerance is the virtue of a man without conviction.

The end of the world began the day it was created, and life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease.

My father in law just bought a Barnett quad 400. Got it from one of his friends that had bought it for his wife but it took her thumb off on the 3rd shot. Not the crossbows fault, operator error. I've shot it a couple times and can see how if your not paying attention you can have your thumb to high.

That could be done, one way to answer thise calls that want you to take a survey is to tell them you write surveys for a living. Most will hang up.

Anoter thought is if there is a write in desctiption part say "Bill Engvall was holding my sign while I did this stupid act."

I got an old TenPoint before they had to change their name. A great bow and company that supports their product!
