Got a question for you all. Is it really necessary to repaint decoys? Ive noticed alot of talk about repainting decoys on here in the past. I was just curious what yalls take is on it. I have talked to several guys that tell me that ducks cant see the chips and scratches from the air (which makes since to me) and that it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever what the decoys look like. On the other had i hear guys talk about repainting and that it does make a difference.
So is it worth it? All my decoys are second hand and well used and was just wondering if it is worth the time and effort to repaint those. Will it really make more birds come to my spread?
Just curious..thanks for the info

To me this goes back to how in duck hunting we are looking at getting an edge and there are 100s of things we can do. Most of them are tiny like this and it would be impossible to really tell one way or another if it's making a difference.
So on this issue I look at it like this. If you are like me and can't find the time to do projects like this then no...it's not worth it...I would buy new decoys before I would repaint them. But for others they can make the time and they might actually enjoy doing it so in those cases I say go for it.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

I am trying to upgrade all my deeks. I am going with all slotted bags and dropping some serious cash on top of the line deeks. My brothers aren't allowed to touch them anymore

I re-painted all my ghg hot buys a couple of years ago for a few reasons...
1.) at the time money was tight and my blocks looked like cap.
2.) i enjoyed doing it.
3.) if i would have just went out and bought new decoys then i would have had 4doz faded decoys sitting in the barn that would never get used.
4.) waste not want not. Times are tough y'all!!! Fix what you got and if you buy...buy American!

It gives me something to do in the summer. Don't over think it, I shot a limit over some old inflatable decoys last weekend.
