I tried it a few years ago and had to quit. The pellets were too dry and the deer looked as if they were choking when they ate them.

Used them in a self feeder but for some reason either we got a bad batch or the deer quit liking it because they just quit touching it. Now they love protein pellets all the time, of course they would though, they cost more. hammer

I mixed half and half with corn so we will see what happens i figured the alfalfa would be better for them and since corn is about the same price i would try both. i hopr to feed year round this year so hopefully it will pay off feeding something other than just straight corn.

My FIL said they switched from protein pellets to goat feed. Supposedly has the same protein content at half the price.

Moisture will cause pellitized grain to swell. It can stop up your feeder

I put out some of the big ones and the deer never touched them at all.

It seems to me that feeding pellets formulated for a deer's nutritional needs is a better idea?

The best thing for deer would be to feed a pellet like acco's antler plus or ful-o-pep's hill country 20. Alfalfa hay is also a good choice deer love it. They will provide much better nutritional balance than corn and alfalfa pellets. I wouldnt feed goat feed to deer, two different animals and each animal has different mineral and nutritional requiremnts. I think deer can handle larger dose of copper than sheep and goats and I am sure that there are several things that can go the other way.
