i put up a feed pen thats about 32X32 around June. No signs of any activity inside the pen, and corn is still on the ground. i was thinking about putting up a protein feeder but they wont even come to it now so whats the use?

We need some honest to God cold weather. They'll need carbs in the cold and that might bring 'em back to corn. I think the recent rains and warm weather has resulted in too many groceries of the natural variety. The deer have no need to come to corn right now.

I had a buddy that swore by throwing sweet-feed in his feeder pen to attract the deer, it seemed to work for him.
gonna hide out in the bottoms, where i hunted deer and turkey, i know that swamp like the back of my hand-Chris Knight

It's warm in Yoakum too, but the deer are at the feeder every night. Unfortunately they seem to get their fill before daylight...

This is your answer^ your pen isnt the problem...theres just alot of other food out there for them right now and no need to come to corn...once these hot streaks are over and its stays cold for a while you will see it pick up

Deer have abandoned most of my protein feeder stations after we finally got a good rain and things began to grow. With the cooler weather, they are beginning to come back in.
