I emailed this link to Jim Willis of quail restoration so he could admire the dogs. It didn't happen. He always evaluates the cover. Here's his reply;

"What's so significant about the pic of Yeats is the cover where he is standing on point. The vegetation is primarily deep-rooted sedge, an invasive. When there's a drought, almost any cover is good. It attracts whatever insects exist (100% of the diet of young birds} as well as providing essential screening cover. Hope those young birds can build up enough body fat to survive."
