About to start construction on a couple of traps and cant decide what kind of trap door to build. Looking at building 8 ft x 4 ft x 3 ft tall. Having a hard time seeing multi-catch with a trap this size. Suggestions, thoughts, experiences?????

i have found that rooter and guillitine style doors are the easiest to control. no spring tensions to worry about unless the earth looses it's gravitional pull.

if you have the material then shoot for a 6x8 or even a 8x8 trap. hogs seem to not like going into the narrower trap entrances.

Good information pafree. I have access to all the material I need with the only limit being how much I wanna spend (I work for a company where I can get the angle and wire panels at cost).

I have a 6x4 with a spring door. I have had 2 hundred pounders in there at one time, and 5 50 pounders.

Had 7 in this one the other day, caught 8 before, before that have caught 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, & 1 on numerous occasions w/some big ones sometimes. If you feed them......they will come. Though I do like them, you don't need a monster trap to have a multie-catch. Just build a good trap & be patient with it.....that is all coach

Make a square door frame out of angle iron and put the old saloon type entry on them, that way pigs can push in after it's tripped, but cant get out. Trampoline springs are good ways to keep them shut too.

You need a monster trap if you want to catch 15 or 20... or if you want 5 or 6 over 200 in it... But, if all you want is about a 4 pig average with them being <100#, that kind of trap works fine.

Your best bet is to build a pen out of cattle panels and t-posts to catch big numbers.
