There are lots of areas of public land available for you to hunt.

Why Not !! There is all Kinds of Public land here in Texas to hunt with all kinds of deer and hogs. You have to do Your scouting to get on them but there out there. Im hunting Public land this year and have seen deer almost every time I go out. Try it out Ya might like it.

Hey young lady how's the new rifle. Get you a Annual Hunting Permint through the TPWD. You have several spots with in a hour or so from you. Make sure you have your Hunter Safety Class before going out. They are serious about that. Good luck and lets see some pics of your success.

Oh, and I just received the gun today I plan on sighting it in either tomorrow or Friday I'm very please with its appearance! I'll let you know how i like the accuracy once i sight it in

Welcome to the sport !! As posted there is a ton of public land close by that you can hunt. If it is in a (WMA) Wildlife Management Area you will need the (APH) Annual Public Hunting, permit. However, in the national forests there are areas that do not require the permit just a valid hunting license. Davey Crockett National Forest being one of them. There are thousands of acres of land you can hunt there with just your license. You are required to wear Safety Orange when hunting public land so if you don't have it you will need an orange vest and hat/ cap. All of the rules are available online on the TPWD website.
