This season in my area I hunt is not looking too good. Hunted private Saturday, 3 men-17 ducks, all Gadwall with two woodies. Heard some shooting early on some lakes close by. The lake we hunt is really low as are others everywhere, there is not much food in our tank to keeps birds around, we scouted an area lake Saturday and it is very low, not much food, did not find any hydrilla only found small groups of 10-15 ducks in small holes in each area we looked.
We decided to skip the lake and hunt private Sunday morning also. Heard only one set of shots early from the lake and nothing after that, we shot 7 gaddies and did not see but three groups the entire morning, pretty disappointing.
There are acorns all over the ground on our place, we need a huge rain.

Personally I think its going to be awhile before we see the benefits of the duck #'s being up.Teal season was not any different from any other year and I know we had a lack of water but we still did not see that much traffic in the air for teal.Some of the guys in Arkansas think even if the #'s are up, thats just more ducks to stop on the refuges DU's building in thier Fly Way.I do think we may have a little more shooting going on in the late season when the weather up north locks up but once again We have seen cooler temps both up north and here,we even got pushed back one more week to hunt and I'm not hearing to many amazing reports.But I'm going to hunt this year in hopes of a great year like reports say it should be.

What's funny is that along the coast were I also hunt in LA, they have a good number of birds now and a lot of people that hunted this weekend down south did well. The birds have to go through us to get there I just think with the lack of food they are not going to stay here long.
I will still chase them all year, I just was pointing out what I noticed this weekend. I sure do not want to have to drive 6 hours to LA to kill birds in rice more than twice this year.

Most will over fly us or fly down to the east. You are correct, those that stop wont stay long.
