The discussion of resetting feeders for the time change early Sunday morning reminded me of this. And unfortunately, it happens to a lot of hunters the first Sunday of the season.

If you use the alarm on your cell phone to wake yourself up, BE SURE TO CHANGE THE ALARM SETTING TO ONE HOUR EARLIER SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. Your cell phone will automatically adjust during the night, but will leave your alarm set to the old setting. If you don't adjust the alarm setting, you will get up exactly one hour later (according to the sun) than you did the night before.

Or better yet, if you want to see your buddy get totally pissed off after sleeping in, don't tell him.

I didn't sleep much on the bow opener and didn't need an alarm for last month. I was like a kid at Christmas and was up at 0330.....but I had a few errands to run an last minute check-lists to meet.

Not sure what kinda fone that is, but you might be sure to wind it before you go to bed as well.

On my cell phone, i turn off automatic time update on this particular weekend every year. It sucks to wake up in panic!

I hate to say it, since you've been nice to me on here. But in fact, 1999 has called....they want their phone back.

For some reason that makes NO sense......Let's see if I get this..

I set my alarm for say 5am, My clock automatically sets itself back to 1am for Daylight Savings....

Are you saying that my alarm will NOT go off at 5am still.

Thanks for the reminder Dan. That happened to us a couple years ago...the phone changes the time one hour but the alarm does stay the same and does not adjust. Fortunately for us when that happened my 8 year old daughter was up and shakin' us like crazy to go hunt.

We have an alarm clock by electricity now but a GREAT reminder. The cell phones will move one hour that night.

Look at this way.

Early Sunday morning, the clock on your cell phone is going to set itself back one hour. Obviously, the sun keeps moving. With the clock on your phone now set back one hour, the alarm will go off an hour later in reference to the sun. So if your set your alarm to go off two hours before sunrise on Saturday, that same alarm time (using the new time) will be just one hour before sunrise on Sunday.

Maybe you mean the fool setting the alarm clock is a fool?

I typically disable the sundial feature on my Suunto for just this reason. Now about that solar-powered headlamp you bought...

It makes perfect sense to me. It will start get daylight an hr earlier than before. So u have to get up earlier.

You get up at the same time you have been, the clock just says a different time.

I understand.

If you drink enough beer none of this will matter.

Dan, if you know you want to wake up at 5AM, after your clock has changed, you set it to 5AM. The only problem would be if your phone DIDN'T auto-adjust, but then you'd just wake up an hour earlier than you need to.

As far as I can tell, my phone doesn't have an alarm setting that references the sun...just the time.

Haha what hes trying to say is that now it gets daylight at 7:30 so you get up at 6... dont forget that you will now need to get up at 5 because it'll be daylight at 6:30
