The wife and I rode over to the lease this morning (30 min. away) and took a drive through the pasture to check on things. We got there about 10:30 and drove by all of the feeders. There was corn under each of them. Two of the feeders hadn't been touched in the last couple of days. I have no doubt that the few acorns that are dropping are responsible. Sure wish we'd get a good freeze in here, pronto.

Good news is that some oaks that put out acorns in the last week or two are now empty, with no new acorn growth. Hopefully this batch of acorns won't last long.

We have no acorns on our property in McCulloch County. It really looks pitiful.

I'm hearing that it's quite a bit drier the farther west you go. That really sucks.
