From the above tpwd link. Contrary to popular belief, there are no black panthers in Texas; no one has ever captured or killed a black mountain lion.

We have a Mountain Lion spotted several time in Dalhart Texas. Like to hang around the Lake. There used to be some on the west end of the canyon/lake way back when. We'd see them at the airport too. Used to hide in the grass on the edges of runways and taxiways and wait for a rabbit to cross...

pg 2 - " Contrary to popular belief, there are no black panthers in Texas; no one has ever captured or killed a black mountain lion." - I knew it - the black ones CAN'T BE KILLED (unless you're using SILVER bullets)!!!!

Picture in the Freer deer camp of a mountain lion killed in the area.
Just doing it for fun now.

We had 5 I could document, plus some Jacurundi around Medina Lake a few yrs. ago when I still ran hounds. Except for Ernie Lerma the Game Warden here then...the State could have cared less and the Game Bio...showed no interest...One thing I can assure you, if you have big cats...the deer will be few and far between..DD

I watched one from a distance in Montague county about 10 years ago while turkey hunting a big property. I was thinking what the heck is that? Watched it for awhile until it walked out of sight.
To be determined
