Made the trip North for the opener. Day started out good out in the middle of nowhere.

Safe direction for firearms in the vehicle is down. This is the floorboard of our Suburban.

How it happened is up for debate but the results are not. Here I am looking for the exit hole in the transmission.

I did not find it but the vehicle was DOA.

On to pheasant hunting.

Found the pheasants but not one grouse this year.

I left there and it was snowing lightly this morning. Thank the Lord nobody was hurt in the accidental discharge.

Any "accidental" discharge is more than likely a NEGLIGENT discharge....

I know a man thats missing a big toe because he thought his gun was empty while riding in the truck. He had the barrel on his foot when the driver asked if it was unloaded, he replied sure it is see, and he pulled the trigger. He learned his lesson, the hard way. bang

Looks awesome (besides the ND)! Were you referring to Sharptail Grouse?

I was referring to the Sharptail Grouse. We usually run into them but not this year.

Could have been worse. You were lucky. Say a prayer tonight that you have a chance to learn from what happened. Nice hunt.

When I was 11 I had a .243 that went off into the floor board of an old land cruiser. I swore to my Dad that it was on safety when it went off. He wore my backside out for it. Come to find out that the safety on that gun didn't work and that it actually WAS on safety. Moral of the story: un-chamber the round when driving. It doesn't take that long to put one in the pipe if you need it.
