This is my first year to bowhunt so I have lots of questions but the main question this weekend is...does hunting in the rain damage or harm the components on the bow??? What are some good tips while hunting in bad weather conditions/ rain & thunderstorms?
Thx

With one exception, I never had any problem shooting 3D or hunting. Only thing that's noticeable is that when you fire, all the water is going to explode off your bow from the shock. As long as you're shooting plastic vanes, and non-fabric silencers, you won't have any trouble. Just dry the metal parts off good with a blow dryer after the hunt. The only trouble I ever had was when I advanced to longbows and flint points, I found out one opening morning that hide glue (used to secure the sinew) melts when it gets wet.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

I never shot my bow when it was wet, but as PH said above, just dry it well when you get back in after hunting.

Thanks from the info....do you have to grease the can or oil it so that it doesn't rust even after you dry it off?

Remember rain washes blood trails away faster.

Remember rain washes blood trails away faster. exactly - why I hesitate to bowhunt in rain. To me its too risky. I dont get enough shots at deer during season to chance it.

Use vegetable oil instead of a petroleum base, helps on the scent.

yeah and make sure to wax your string good and blow dry it to let it sink in before you go out and it will water proof it.
