Anybody have any hunting reports from around this area. Or any pics of deer harvested there this season or in the past. I've never been to the Rocksprings area and have a hunt the first week of Jan. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Last year, I hunted Devils Sinkhole which is pretty close. Lot's of deer, not many good sized bucks. Arrowed one doe. Getting to your blind in the dark is a noisy affair. Loose limestone everywhere, sounds like your kicking around a bunch of dinner plates with every step.

No, I didn't see any on that hunt. Edwards county has a lot of them though. Axis, audad, and Spanish goats mainly. I owned 25 acres outside of Camp Wood, south of Rocksprings. I never saw any when I was out there but my neighbors said they were around.

Rocksprings has a little and in some places alot of everything. Size depends on where you are hunting at and the forage on the place. Many, many places are over run with Ceder in that area and horn growth is hurt by this. Some places are shot out as there are many 50 and 100 acre parcials in the area, and then some of the large places have more deer than they can shoot.

I am one of those that have a small place out there. I love it and see all kinds of animals on my way in and out. On my place I have only seen one audad, several WT Does and a few Bucks but very young. It sounds like you are going to one of the ranches that are large and lease hunts, not seasons. That being the case I would think you will be in good shape. I cannot remember the last time out I did not see an exotic along the way.
