well we had a pretty wild weekend at the lease, saw lots of deer opening morning. Lots of small bucks and few does but none I wanted to draw on. Saturday evening, I was on the way to the blind when I saw smoke coming from the property next door within a few hundred yards from our fence so I hauled [censored] back to camp only to have the brakes go out on me on the jeep...turned off the engine to try and stop only to have the steering wheel lock up. I crashed into a telephone pole going about 15. Busted open my brow and put a huge dent in the bumper and a little one my head, but nothing a butterfly bandage could'nt fix...somehow the pole stayed standing. I was a bit concussed but still managed to go hunt. Same thing as the morning, saw lots of small bucks, but no does I wanted to draw on. Everything was super skiddish with the chainsaws and ruckus going on a few hundred yards away. Luckily the fire dept came out and took care of the fire before it could spread. This morning, saw more of the small bucks but no chances to draw on a doe. The turkeys rolled in about 8:30 and I got my first bow kill. Crazy weekend, but just glad everything is the way it is. It all could have turned out much worse. Sorry for the long story, I just thought you all would find it interesting. Just finished the chicken fried turkey and it was all worth it. Great opening weekend and lots of memories for sure.

Dang, glad you at least got a kill.

The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Sounds like you had a crazy weekend. Great job on the turkey, I have always wanted to take one with my bow.

You should have been here yesterday!
