rofl Might slow them down but it won't stop them from eating. Gonna have to manage the coons like you do the deer. Control the numbers of them.

There's a creek bed by that feeder, and the river isn't too far away. You can only control them so much unless you can run traps every single day, which I can't. Not sayin they may not eventually get into it, but so far so good. In a week's time they haven't got it. No permanent fixes to keep them out completely but death, so I agree. LOL

Only thing that could make that better is to put some q-ari on the tips of those nails that way when the coons get stuck they run off and die of infection.

LOL I'd seen the little plates you could put on there and somehow those little barbs just didn't look like enough to me so out with the nails and into the plywood they went. Those smaller nails are really sharp. Probably would have been better if I'd ground down the bigger ones to a sharper point. They extend over the ends a little but that doesn't seem to bother the deer. Like I say, so far it's workin.

I have some ordered. However, I'll only set them out when I can run them in the morning, which is only Saturday or Sunday morning. I currently have some live traps. Not gonna leave a coon, or anything else, to die in a trap. That limits the number I can get rid of via trapping so still have to utilize other methods of trying to keep them away from the feed. There just is no method that is a 100% cure for me, and I'll never be coon free anyway. Just tryin to work all the angles.

Pieces of plywood and nails. IF/WHEN they master getting into it I'll put razor sharp edges on those nails with my grinder. Still may not fix it, but they'll danged sure have to be careful coming in from the top or they'll be feeder shishkabob. Thought I'd try it this way first. The short nails are VERY sharp. Supply cost is practically nothing. Not the best mouse trap I'm sure, but effective THUS far on that type of feeder. A round piece of plywood with the nails in it works on a barrel type feeder to keep them from attacking it from the top if you have tree limbs above they can drop down on. I'll take a pic of that next weekend...may have blood on it. They drop off that tree limb above and they got problems.
