I have tried for the past several years to do the feeder call. I finally gave up and just bought the call you shake back and forth to do it for me. But then that is just something else to take with you.

Anyone have any suggestions on a call to buy that is easy to learn the feeder call on. I have a Cocobolo RNT and it just isn't working. They tell you to blow tikka tikka tikka or tooka tooka tooka into it and I just can't get it.

That is a rolling feed call and really is not that important. Learn the clucks and pecks, they are more realistic. Just my opinion of course.

Get the Buck Gardner Straight Talk Duck CD and listen to it, you will have it figured out in no time.

keep practicing on it. it takes time. some more than others. try clucks and cutts such as tik tik and took took or kuk kuk. vary those up and you'll have a way more convincing feed call than the machine gun call. machine gun is overated anyhow.

You really don't have to double cut to bring ducks in. If you can just single cut by saying tick repeatedly that is a good start. Vary up the pattern. Use the front of your tongue to build up pressure. Release that pressure and quickly shut it off with your entire tongue against the roof of your mouth. Just like saying tick.

tick tick... tick tick tick... tick... tick tick tick

Once you can control that you can move on to the double cut, which is the tick-ah sound. Starts off the same exact way by building up pressure with the front of your tongue against the roof of your mouth behind your teeth. After you say tick, shut off the pressure with the back of your tongue and immediately release it, making the "ah" sound. Start off slow.

Once you get rolling your tongue is like its on a fulcrum alternating between the front and back of your tongue shutting off and releasing pressure. The middle of your tongue should stay off the roof of your mouth. Cupping your tongue a little bit helps.

My 2cents

the best feed to use usually in timber or small holes or anytime you dnt have to be to loud is just a string of feeds and not the rolling feed...its simple to get and i do it with my Cocabolla. its like your coughin in tha call...ca ca ca ca...ki ki ki ki..ca ca ca ca..ki ki ki ki....but once you get the roller down u can put them both together
