New to the Hunting Forum, and from what i have read and heard, it seems that there are alot of fellow hunters on here willing to share info and tips. here is my question I only bow hunt, and had an opportunity to get on a lease in Lampasas. I paid my dues and still have not steped foot on the property. Does anyone know what i can expect ? it is 1500 acres and it is called the Jackson Ranch Thanks for the help and God bless

our place is about 15 miles from Lampasas, there are lots of deer, turkey and hogs we are in Burnet county so no antler restrictions but if it is in Lampasas county you will have to deal with the 13" rule. when you are there make sure to eat at Storms great burgers
and welcome to the forum

I am on a lease for the first year in evant, 28 miles north of lampasas. So far I'm liking it. Lots of deer and hogs. You should see lots of deer and if managed properly a chance at a good one. I would think a trophy would be around 140" around there.

Good luck with your new lease. We get several really nice deer from that area every year.

times 3, if its a property owned and run by Don Jackson. And, it very well could be as he has several properties, that I knew off, one around Lampasas, Lometa and some others but don't know where they are.

If it's the old Jackson ranch in bend,tx your gonna love it. If it's one of dons have fun. I called him one time about a lease and he rudly answered the phone and into our talk I asked if he was the land owner and he replied " what the hells it matter". Need less to say I politely told him I'd keep looking.

He has some land with MLD, I know several people who have leased from him in the past and they were one season and done with him. Some even helped him refurbish an old barn over the course of a couple of months, in exhcange he told them he would do some food plots. They didn't get a thank you, food plots, or any contact with him until the money was due. Before I knew all this I talked to him about a lease and he was very wishy washy about the place, he finally told me it was 60 acres no camp, no water, no elec and it was deer season only. All that for $2500 dollars, I threw up in my mouth a little.

I had similar issues with Don. He was very rude and wanted to have a check in his hand for the full lease amount before he'd show me the property.... LOL.... I told him no way, I wanted to see the property before I made any commitment... I later found out that a buddie of mine leased from him a few years prior and had a whole mess of issues.... GOOD LUCK FRIEND...
