you guys think the central texas lakes that are usually just so-so will be any good for duck hunting with the drought and no other water?

If we don't get any winter rain, which none is being predicted, there are going to be a lot of dead trees in the spring.

I noticed that the other day driving through, guess it will make allergy season tolerable.

At my house it rained really hard for about 15 minutes Saturday evening and I think it rained a little last night. We need substained rain...not just a quick shower but at this point I'm thankful for anything.

Saturday night it rained a bit at the house. The next morning (Sunday) no signs of any rain where we hunt which is 17 miles away. Then Sunday night we got a couple of light showers and a good heavy rain around midnight. Hopefully we got some of that where we hunt. Either way we need alot more.

The hunting will be fine just find water thats all.Ducks dont care bout this lake or that lake being full or shallow they just want a lil water.
But here is a tip for ya,lots of guys talk about duck food corn, millet, rice, ect. but forget that ducks also like invertebrates & crustaceans as well, so with this low water or even no water but a good mud flat thats not killer to get to them ducks will come in there as well to eat those things.Just got to scout your tail off this year.SO Your gona have to buy full body duck decoys this year and layout blinds if you dont have em dig in and hunt hard.

I have pages of strategies for this yr.

See plan #31 here. Probably my current favorite. (Old shore line was by the trees.)

Most of the plans include driving to the coast or hunting without deeks around here. Just may be more Dove hunting opportunities than ducks this yr.

Great so when I slop through the silt to toss 6 dekes(too tired to throw the others). I can shoot nothing but divers. Leave them hopefully on the water, and then then pick them all up at once. No way I am mad enough to make up to six trips through knee deep slop. I am going to be jumping farm tanks that still have water and let the ducks clear the shore line before I shoot. Walk over and pick them up on firm ground.
