It's probably too late for this year. Read up on the MLD program on the TPWD website. You can't just jump straight into MLD2 or 3. You have to start with MLD 1 or LAMPS and then progress from there. You'll have to do surveys with the biologist and then he'll work up the numbers of deer and sex to be harvested. TPWD then issues the tags.

Surveys are done with trailcams, spotlight or helicopter. Our last helicopter survey last year cost us $1800 for a total of 7000 acres.

Probably to late for this year. When we started we contacted TPWD in Jasper as they were the ones who did our LAMPS permits and they pointed us in the right direction.

well, even if it is too late for this year, it would be nice to be ready for next year.

Even for MLD1 or LAMPS you'll be doing a survey of some sort.

We did LAMPS for years and they just issued the doe permits in accordance with how many acres we had.... never had to do a survey. With 640 acres you should get 5 or 6 doe tags through LAMPS.

LAMPS surveys are done by biologist for the entire county and then issued per acre.

We have the LAMPS and it's one doe permit per 100 arces and all the land has to be adjoining.

Find your area TPWD office and contact them. Probably to late for this year but ask them what can be done. You will 3 years of harvest data to start any program. Number of deer taken, sex, age, weight, etc to start MLD when you try to get one. You will need 3 spotlight surveys or a helo survey. You might try for the ADCP if they still have it. It allows you to shoot a set number of doe and spikes. Not quite as hard to get. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/permits/land/wildlife_management/adcp/
