so there is a property i hunt, just outside of leakey. very very mountainous and rocky terrain. land owner has spotted a lion, and his wife has spotted a lion with two cubs just last year. and they have heard the shreeking woman cry at night a lion makes.also have told me they have seen/heard one that likes to walk a rock ledge just off the side of the mountain where i call. what ever, i never have seen one and don't stay over night up there and never ever ever expected to see one...

and well i can't say for sure that i have still to this day, but....
i seriously think i called in a mt. lion this morning. was way bigger than anything i've called in and came in 15 minutes after calling. only had it in scope for less than two seconds. saw movement, got it in scope, just the rear end then it was gone... but it was BIG and colored like a deer! tripped me out honestly.... can't say for sure cause no positve id, but it was nothing like what i have seen before, and what ever it was was interested in my foxpro. fox ran out 1 minute after the sighting and the other animal was way way bigger and the fox was half the distance closer.went over to where i saw it pass behind a bush and the bush was just under waist high and the animal back looked to be just a tad taller. wish i could have had a second longer for a shot opportunity! hunted and called plenty of bobcats, and this was not one...
oh well, i'll never know and it will probably never happen again!

i went and sat on the opposite ridge and glassed the side of the hill for a while and saw nothing. btw: there are no coyotes in this area at all. called plenty of times, never seen/heard a coyote ever in this area, and it definately didn't move like a yote

now the bashing/jokes begin!

i'll keep trying for sure for the other critters, but i don't expect to have a mt. lion come to a call again or ever see one for that matter.... but with hunting you just never know, especially down here. months ago a black bear was shot just 30-40 miles from here illegally

Trail Cameras on water sources and you will have your proof. If cats are living on the place and being see a time or two they will have to get water daily. Check water sources for sign as cats can't drink without leaving tracks coming and going to it. The cameras will hunt 24/7 when you can't. Good luck and remember worthless grin Postem' up when you get them up

You don't have to be there with trail cameras and big cards in them.

I believe u. There was one at my uncles place not too long ago. Several of the oil field people saw it, and there was a track that was most def a cougar track. They do exist lol. Next time coax it in for a shot.

i sure as hell tryed to get it to come back or peak its head out! i've gone up there and tried last year to call it in numerous times and only saw fox and bobcats... i was joking to myself in my head on the drive in about killing one, then when i really don't expect it something large popped out for a second. you can best believe i'll be trying that spot again its just WAY to thick up there!

there is one that roams around about every 30 days at my brother in laws near hondo. numerous people have seen it as well

not exactly sure, haven't seen his place yet or know where it is.

he wanted me to try and come call it in , or coax it in with a goat or something last year but i never had time. he was having problems with no deer in the area. had deer all around him just not in his area, none were coming to the feeders and were rarely seen until a few miles away from his house

People saying that you didn't see one is like saying that they don't exist.

I've seen one. Maybee two (no possitive ID on the second one) Didn't get a pick though for two reasons. #1 I didn't have a camera. #2 I didn't have time. That thing was running SO FAST.

Very creepy and awesome feeling watching that thing. I was about 9 yrs. old and I thought that It might come after me. That's an experience I'll never forget. Yeah I wish I had a picture but I don't. It's a lifetime memory for me though and I don't care who believes me and who doesn't.

If you didn't get a positive ID I'd keep trying. Might not ever see him again but that's part of the excitement.

NO jokes here. It can happen. Perfect place, perfect time, stars align, and a little bit of luck! I still can't believe it happened.
