Okay guys
So me and my dad are having a heated debate over whether you can/can not use a pistol to hunt with in the Great State of Texas. I say anything over a 357. He says no pistols at all.
Please help!!

I think that if you are in bow range anything 9mm and above could kill Texas animals.
There are also some T/C pistols that have rifle calibers.

I like the 44 mag as well! It puts a hurting on the pigs!

It just can't be a rim fire! For big game, deer etc!

I've hunted with pistols for years and have finally settled on a T/C in 7mm08. Put a nice scope on that 45-70 and it'll be a fun gun to hunt with. Killed 2 pigs with 1 shot a couple years ago with a 454 casull.

.357, 44mag, & TC in 35rem. All worked pretty good!

You may want to get some Uncle Ted videos, as well as, Larry Weishuhn.

Uncle Ted like's to use his 10 MM from time to time on his ranch, and Larry has for sometime taking Texas deer using a TC pistol.

Just be respectful of your Dad, and while he is incorrect about hunting with pistols in Texas, you may just want agree to disagree.

He may even know you can hunt with a pistol, but may no approve of it, so he's making his statement for that reason.

i have carried a ruger blackhawk in .357 but never shot anything with it.

if ranges are kept short it would be a fun alternative to bow hunting

Last few years I've taken my .41 mag out but nothing close enough for me yet.

This year I'm for sure going to take something with the XD. I've been practicing at hitting a 50 round ammo box at about 30 yards so I feel like I could hit vitals pretty easy.
