I've been several times and haven't seen a single duck!!!

I would definately stay away from Lake Lewisville.

I shoot limits every time I go and I shoot a banded bird every trip. Heck I even shot a mallard drake with a satellite transmitter.

just yesterday I shot 4 double banded mallard drakes with $100 reward bands and a banded sprig for my kicker

Don't count on much help from these yokels...

My past experiences on Lewisville were like a real estate ad-location, location, location!

Find some private lands potholes and stick with it! Much less to deal with. Also sent a PM.

Welcome to the THF and try to remember that evryone on here is not a _____________________. (You fill in the blank.)

If there is a lake within 50 miles of the MetroMess, there may or may not be ducks on it, but contrary to the infantile concept of recruiting new hunters into the sport, you will have to get out there and look for places for your self.

Things will probably better as far as waterfowl numbers go after the front moves thru this week.

Good Luck and Welcome to the THF.

Just as a head's up, I made the mistake of asking specific questions last week and had to edit my response to follow forum etiquette. And, I'm not bashing the forum, but in my experiences on other (fishing) forums there were no limits to information - by definition they are for people with similar interests to exchange details.

So, back to you question. I can't say whether the hunting there has been good, bad, or ugly, but I can say that it has been very comparable to other DFW area lakes.

Oh yeah, if someone calls you "Barney", it isn't a compliment...

I dont see what the big deal is in asking this question. I have never understood that. Its not like he was asking where you hunt on Lewisville. He asked if anyone has had any luck. Simple question, but everyone gets all pissy and makes smart [censored] comments. Like saying yes would send a rush of people to your "spot." Its big enough that he would more than likely not ever hunt the same place you do. I have not even been to Lewisville yet this season, and I live right next to it, so you guys dont have to worry about me.

larry and canadian. drop me a pm. I'll be glad to help anyway i can. including taking you out if theres a spot in the boat. can't promise ducks. but i wont treat you like a ****head, which seems to be the predominant stance the members of this forum have taken towards new or inexperienced hunters.

You need to get clue bro. I will not help lazy folks who are not willing to help themselves. It's like duck hunting welfare; instead of putting in the work, some want a handout and are not willing to learn the right way!

Mark, I do not think that is a fair statement, 85% of the members on here do not believe in posting location specifics on the forum about the whereabouts of ducks, almost 50% do not believe in providing information at the lake level for reason that have been beat to death on here.

Here are how members feel, incase you have not seen.

Where are the Ducks Poll

It is what it is, this will be something that will never change. You want to talk about where the ducks are on the open forum, go ahead, just know your audience.

So while the majority of members do not believe in posting duck location information on the forum, I would say 95% of the members on here are willing to help in OTHER ways, just not that one . I admit sometimes it can get ugly with this subject, we try to manage that, sometimes that is just going to happen.

option 1 had the most votes at 16%
1) I think it is ok to post reports on lakes, spots, and even GPS coordinates

So, where are all the spots and GPS coordinates that they think it is ok to post?

Look, I'm not here to get in a pissing match about this. And what exactly is the right way Texasheat? I personally posted when i moved back about looking for scouting partners and offering my boat as the vessel and my gas and all of my time and I got little to no response. Why am I not surprised that it was you and auto who felt the need to tell me to get a clue? You talk about how willing you are to help others, but I haven't seen it. There are a good number of forum members on here who have gone out of their way to help me out and I have several good friends because of it. So, I was wrong in saying that it is a predominant stance of forum members, HOWEVER, as it is in so many other things, a few bad apples spoil a bunch. I guess I just don't see the need to be a sarcastic [censored] to a guy who is asking questions. If you don't want to answer him, or think hes being lazy. so be it.

I have no problem with anyone giving up information regarding their hunting spots and I have never condemned anyone for doing so. As long as they hunt your spots, they probably will not find mine.

this is for all those that think its ok to tell these new guys what lake is doing what...

if you get up at 2:30 in the morning and drive 2 hours to your spot to take a chance that the birds are there you my friend are hunting.... those that come on hear to find out which lake is good or bad so they dont spend 50 bucks in gas to take chance on a spot they have scouted are "BARNEYS" and i hope you never see a duck in your adventures.

I guess thats what I'm getting at. I have no problem and completely understand being secretive and careful with your hunting spots on public water. but you don't have to be sarcastic and treat a newbie poorly simply because he asks. If someone wants to give out his spot, then hes obviously not giving out yours, or if he is, thats a conversation you need to be having with your hunting partner. haha.

Well, I have a solution to all this: “Rule # 16: No more discussing duck location information on the forum!” I proposed this to JP last year, he didn’t go for it.

Maybe he would go for it this year.

If you find a spot on LL with shallow water/food and ducks, getting up at 2:30 would be cutting it close. Especially if your a walk-in.

Texas Heat, if you are so worried about somebody finding your secret honey holes that you are afraid to say whether or not you have shot ducks on a specific lake, then I would say you are more than a little paranoid. As i recall, the public land at lewisville consists of more than just the point that you hunt and the point that i hunt. You have no idea of the intention of my question, which i can assure you was not to find your spot. But then again, it's public land and if i want to set up 75 yards down the shoreline from you, short of shooting me and hauling away my carcass, there isn't a thing that you can do about it. Maybe you should spend your money on a lease so you don't have to worry about other hunters and more over, so that you can keep your jacka*s responses to yourself. It is an innocent question that doesn't require a response from anyone other than those who care to take part. There may be good people on the hunting forum, but so far it looks like nothing more than a douche bag pen pals club. One things for sure Texasheat, next time someone posts asking where to hunt douche bags, I'll be damn sure generous enough to give them your GPS coordinates.

P.S. To the moderators of this site. I am sure this post will be bumped, but how about stepping up and bumping uncalled for posts, like the one from our over sensitive and pissed off friend-Texasheat. Either outlaw certain posts-or bump A*sh#ole responses.
