If a horn is webbed or palmated where it splits off do you begin your measurement at the main tine or the beginning of where the tine leaves the webbed or palmated area? The palmation is growing away from the main tine and is part of the split off tine.

For the longer tine of the two you would start at the main beam and for the shorter i would start a half inch past where the split is. my 2 cents

you draw and imaginery line from the upper part of the beam.

in that case, draw a line through a portion of the palmation to determine the length of the abnormal point.

If you are talking about the G3 area on the right beam you will have to wait till the velvet is off the be able to tell which point has the base off the main beam or if both do. This will determine what you do next as to which point would be called the G3. Boone and Crockett is all about symmetry in scoring. This is how the G1's match, G2's match. G3s match etc side to side. From what I can see in the this pic the buck would score as a 5x5 typical (if he has a G4 on the right beam) with a kicker off of the back of the right G2 and another kicker or inline point off the base of the G3 on the right with this one pic. If both of the points at the G3 area originate from the mainbeam then score them from the beam. If not then it will have to be scored as a G3 and kicker off of it. Might change once you see him in hard antlers or different pics at a different angle. Nice buck!

When I get home I will see if I can find a better pic thanks for the reply. His G2 splits twice and his G3 splits once but he does not have a G4 like the other side. Trying to score this deer is what's keeping me occupied! Lol I am getting anxious!

Got anymore pics from different angles? From what I can see in this one pic he is mid 170's or better. This is the same buck in the post from the other day?

My guess on the G2 is 1 tine with 2 kickers measuring from the imaginary edge of the middle tine. On the G3 i would guess both tines originate from the main beam therefore u would treat it like a G3 and a G4. I may be completely wrong thats why i asked. Sorry it took so long to get another pic up. Yes it is the same deer my guess is 173 maybe a little more. His velvet started coming off day before yesterday so i will know soon what he looks like with out it.
