Just purchased this shotgun for my wife as she is a lightweight at 98 pounds, due to the guy at the gun shop claims they have very little recoil. The gun is very light with a 26 inch barrel. Thoughts on this shotgun if you have any experience with it?
I personally have no experience with a 20 gauge as I have always used a 12, but my wife is excited about getting into the sport. She uses her arm everyday as she is a Sonographer (Scanning pregnant women, etc...). Don't want to bang up her arm to much. Any thoughts on reducing recoil any more than what the stock recoil is?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure she has a good experience bird hunting.
Thanks,
JL

you did good man. benelli's are good guns. also anytime you can introduce somebody into the sport ESPECIALLY your wife than youre doin good things. that 20 shouldnt kick real bad. try shootin real light loads (not a ton of shot). that should help a bit. also shootin at critters vs targets helps keep your mind off the kick. good luck man

Add weight to it if you want it to not kick her as much. The inertia guns kick harder than the gas guns, as a general rule. The salesman had a gun to sell that is frustrating. But being a 20 it will be fine and she can handle it. I would stick a roll or two if you can fit it of quarters in the buttstock, that would be a good start. M2 is a great shotgun and more than capable for what you bought it for. Congrats.

I have one and it's favorite load is 1oz of Remington HD in #6's, flat wears the ducks out. I ended up buying another stock and cut to fit my daughter. This year she will use it with the original stock. The only problem has been a peeling issue with the grip-tite that Benelli took care of pronto, how I ended up with the second stock.

Good thing is I think it will hold its value within reason if she doesnt enjoy it. Thanks again.

You made a good choice. I bought my wife one about 5 years ago and it shoots like a dream. It's too light and short for me but, she does well with it and it doesn't kick bad at all. Enjoy!

My wife is 110 and she shoots an M2 with no problems at all. She also shot 1500 rounds in 3 days in argentina with their Barretta Urika 20 gauge, no shooting pad and only a small bruise so that seems like a winner in my book as well. Here she is with her M2 gaurding some cotton.

Adding weight will help the recoil, but you may have to play with it some. Too much weight, hence recoil reduction, can interfere with cycling on the Benellis. I added weight on my Cordoba and it would stovepipe or not close the bolt all the way. Took a few ounces off and found that magic weight. The M2 is a great gun. You did good. I love my Cordoba!

I don't think you should have to do anything to it. My significant other has an 20 Gauge Ultra Light and she has no complaints. She wound up with 9 birds today and had fun.
I also shoot a Benelli 20 Gauge M2 and 12 Gauge Ultralight and 12 Gauge M2. I prefer the 20 Gauge M2 it is just a fun gun with no work involved.
The earlier ones did need recoil reducers (A piece of Mercury that was installed in the buttstock).
Just shoot light loads and have fun.
Please don't put quarters in the gun it will decrease the value of a Benelli even if they are silver quarters Pre-1964.

Ashley (My wife) was shooting 8 shot. Thanks for the picture as proof!!! =) My wife loves her gun, but doesn't have a lot of shooting under her belt yet, therefore she didn't really have much to compare it too.

I called Benelli on the Mercury Tube and they said they do not make them for the M2. I think we will just get some lighter loads. Thanks for the info, especially the Quarters.... =)
