We hunted Saturday afternoon, Sunday AM/PM, and Monday morning, we shot about 30 birds between 4 of us (2 dads, 2 boys). Not many birds but enough to keep it interesting. Sunday was cool, and Monday morning 63 degrees, nobody was hunting but us Monday morning, very nice and peaceful hunt.

Sunday night too much wind to cook out side, so cooked these inside and dang they were good!

Will try to post some pics next week of my groups adventures this weekend out there.

This is the 3rd dove season I have left molly at home, I do it for a verity of reasons:

* First of which, you guessed it, I like my dove to look all pristine, and not all slobbery from the dog .

* Secondly, retrieving my own dove is no big deal, you don’t need a dog for dove.

* It is also normally very hot, and I just do not want to have to worry about my dog and heat, it is not worth the trouble when I can just get the bird myself.

* Molly likes charging after birds, and hunting out west not worth exposing my dog to rattle snakes, cactus, bull nettle, sand burs, etc.

* Dove are so delicate, Molly pounces on them like she does duck, many times she bites holes in them, never an issue with duck, but she is just too hard on dove. Also, all the feathers get stuck in her mouth, I think this makes her mad at those birds, she pounces and fires on dove harder than she does duck, I think the feathers in her mouth piss her off .

* She ate Ryan’s first dove, it is the only one she has ever eaten, but I would never turn my back on her with a dove in her mouth, she would eat a dove in a heart beat, I know my dog .

She’s a duck dog.

Now that you mention it there is no blood or broken wings??? Kinda like they just died there cult like.

Looks like it was a fun time. Great pictures Guy. I wish I could have stayed longer to cross paths with you guys. Nice to see the temps let up for yall. The first day it was still in the 80s during the morning I think and well over 100 in the afternoon.

How do you get an invite to Stompy's place? My place down in Corsicana is is a bust. Not a lot of birds.

Not a lot of birds here either 944, not right now anyway. I thought this front would push some in but it hasn't happened yet. They will be here at some point though, or at least they always have been. Never know about this year,,strange year..
