I have only had some from the high country. The taste is different because of the browse they get, (mostly sage and Pinon) where I hunt. Makes great sausage though.

only had muley buck, but we like it better than whitetail meat-and we really like whitetail. Steaks are bigger and more tender.

Never had Axis or fallow etc...

Trans Pecos muley's are good eating. Killed on last year cubed up a roast fried and ate it same day. Nice and tender.

If you get one thats been eating alfalfa even better food

We got two bucks last year off of a wheat field in the Panhandle. It is very tender and delicious. I have taken them from desert sage lands and they taste like what they eat. I think it depends on their primary food source as to how good they will taste.

Cottonseed, alfalfa, protein and at times corn. The meat to me is a bit "sweeter" tasting, and I like it better then wt. I have had it now for the last few yrs from both mulie does and bucks, can't complain.

Killed a couple a few years back in the panhandle (peanut country) They had a nutty kind of flavor. Seriously.

I go out to my buddy's ranch in bakerfield every year to bow a doe for him (way too many does out there and not near enough bow hunters) and I think they're delicious. I even save/cook the heart and liver on them... something I won't do with whitetails.

Don't compare them to axis, cause that's just not fare. Axis is one of the best tasting out there. From what I hear from all my buddies is if you like w/t, you will like a mulie.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who believe they can and those who believe they can't. They are both correct.
