Sounds above average to me! I don't practice so I might go 3 for 3 and then take 6 shots and nothing. So as long as I stay under two boxes I am good.

The only thing I count is birds to make sure I don't go over a limit and sometimes beers to make sure there is enough. This counting of shells stuff is corny...is it suppost to tell you if you are a good shot? Or does it tell you that maybe you had easy shots? I guess it's better than skyblasting all day.

I think I'm around 1.5 boxes for maybe 6 birds or so.

Beer count is very important,especially in this heat,man's gotta keep hydrated.

I too would go out and make noise but now days I am a bit older and try to make each shot count.

Not my worst day, but I'm thinking this afternoon will be better.

avg can depend on a lot of things... if I'm hunting where a limit is inevitable, I could make myself go 15/15 or 15/20.... if I'm hunting where I will do good to have 5 or 6 birds to shoot at, then I might go 5 birds for 2 boxes of shells just because I will be taking my chances more often.

I average 2 shells per bird.

good point this morning I got 2 birds out of 6 shots thats 33%.
I just like to see what the average of the rest of you guys is.

Funny thing is, if there are more birds, my hit rate is far higher as I carefully choose my shots. Maybe use a box of shells or less for 15 birds.

Fewer birds and I'm shooting more at things that are well in range, but not the higher percentage shots.

4 birds outta a box of shells. not only did i shoot better when i was lil, i was able to control the excitement. after this brutal summer i was just thrilled to be out there.

I went on a last minute hunt last year, had an hour to shoot in your face dove going to a windmill/tree. Shooting a borrowed RH pump (used to my LH auto) and think I finally connected on my 25th shot! Normally I would have about 10 times the amount of birds in the bag by then! It was insanely horrible shooting and couldn't remember to pump the gun. Still a very memorable and fun hunt.

Now people are being honest. I forgot where, but I read that the hunter average is 3 per box. Ill find mine out tomorrow.
