great opening morning for us out in San Marcos. Me and my buddy both got our limit in about two hours. How's everything looking out there for the rest of y'all?

Dove are around, just not in large groups. Palo Pinto Cty.
Hunted what's left of a sunflower field. Shot at 6, dropped 3 and that was it. Other guys in the group either had 5-7 birds or no birds at all. 3 guys on one side of the field got skunked.

No bad days hunting

I came to work (our shop is on some land) and see my Dad pulling his shotgun out because he's eyed about 50 birds laying in our field. So I got mine out and we put down 13 in about 12 minutes. Just tried to keep them circling.

Got my limit in about 2-1/2 hours. Hard hunting though. Just had singles and doubles come by about every 15 mn.

the OP and I had a good hunt, It was my first dedicated bird hunt in about 5 years and Deckers first, so I would say we did alright! Hopefully we have birds to improve on throughout the season. The other guys out there limited out about an hour before us, hopefully we get there before the end of the season. If you have water, things should be good tonight. I was amazed at how well the mojo tree we built worked. build one if you got the time! 15 bucks well spent at home depot.

Did pretty good at our spot near Burleson. Enough birds flying to make a good morning. Everyone had a chance at a limit, whether they got it or not. Only thing that sucked was that my hunting buddy out shot me again. And this time he did it off handed with a .410 and a freshly broken collar bone.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Didn't shoot this morning, instead guided a friend's son on his first hunt, while my friend hunted with his daughter. Man oh man, I wish I was shooting. Saw more birds than I ever have on an opening morning out in Kaufman County. Kids did great. Letting the fields rest until Saturday AM and it's my turn to whack 'em.

But, for this afternoon. Headed to public land for the entertainment. Maybe I'll even see a few birds to shoot.

Saw a couple thousand birds flyin in Midland Co, but it wasn't as good as that sounds. With no water and no sunflowers (or anything thanks to the fires) the birds weren't really going anywhere predictable and I only had about 30 or so commit to the mojos. Coulda done allot better than I did (5 whitewings, 1 eurasian, 10 pigeons - stupid birds) but my newly restored Sportsman-58 is locking back on the first shot almost everytime turning into, essentially, a single-shot.
