Hunting year round helps but it doesn't cure the whitetail bug!

I'm kinda bummed...my lease burnt and now they are cutting it. I really don't know what I'm gonna do for bow season. Tent blinds are ok, but it's nothin like daybreak in a tree. I wish the public lands areound east texas weren't FULL of people during the season.

Im bummed too; I may not get to hunt this year at all. I suffered severe brain damage in a car crash June 6th up in Illinois, so the doctors are not letting me drive or fly for 6 months to a year. Thats going to suck, I shot 20 arrows with my long bow the other day and I shouldnt have, it messed me up for three days.
Maybe something will come up for you and you can find another place to hunt.

Thanks Mr. Gilbert, and no Scott it's not time yet. lol444

I did manage to officate my daughters wedding this evening (I'm an ordained minister)and I hung in there for almost two hours, so God willing I'm be able to shoot a bow by bow season, I'm just sure I won't be in a tree stand.. rofl I'll have to stick to a ground blind.

Makes you realize what's important when things like that happen. Glad you are doing better.

Wow, I retract my comment. I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Here's a quick, full recovery! You'll be back sendin arrows downrange in no time!

There truely is nothing with a worse bite than the hunting bug. It can only be cured with opening day. Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid,and there were Christmas presents all under the tree, but you had to wait till Christmas to open them. Its all worth it though. Ive hunted my whole life and it never gets better. I guess thats why we all love it so much.

Might of heard them saying that they were going to extend the off season and make all hunters from Hurst wait a little longer, but I dont think that happened. Ha. Its like watching paint dry every year.

I have learned that there are other states that open earlier. A great option if your able. I'm headed to Kentucky on Sept 14 for a bowhunt.

October 1st can't get here soon enough. We're going to hunt axis at the Bug Scuffle next weekend though, so that'll tide me over a little bit. I'm looking forward to cooler weather as much as deer season.

I just got an invite to hunt Sept 15th in Maryland, I sure hated to pass that one up. It's just a little too far in my condition. I still don't have a place for opening week end in Tex, but I'm sure something will come up, even if I have to drive to Oklahoma.
