Can make a big difference in a knife. This is just an extra step that I take before attaching the scales to a knife. I know that some just slather the scales with epoxy and slap them on but I feel that roughing up the tang with a small cutoff wheel on a dremel and them drilling the recesses into the scales gives more surface area and rough edges for the 4000 lb. pull strength epoxy to bite into and hold. Just thought that some like to see this detail that they would otherwise never know was there.

I've wondered about the strength of just gluing on the scales. This makes sense to do. Thanks for the insight.

After 24 hours cure time, scales done this way can't be knocked off of a knife if you tried. And I've tried....

Excellent method to get more surface area adhesion The extra divots in the scales is a huge plus as well.
