I had this photo of two very young bucks on my game cam from this morning. I saw that the little buck on the right has torn the skin on his back leg. Does anyone know if this will heal up? Anybody ever shot a mature deer with a massive scar?

Anybody ever shot a mature deer with a massive scar? Ummm, I dont see anything on the buck on the right. Just kidding, LOL! But that does look pretty nasty on the buck on the left.

It will heal and he will be fine. Seen much worse. Amazing how resilient these animals are.

I sure hope so. I'm working hard trying to keep the few deer I have healthy. Might pay off in four or five years. I am pretty worried about the young ones this year. Nothing to eat and very little water.

It is a long way from his heart. He will heal up by deer season and have a scar there this year and maybe a patch of whiter hair there next year.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

wow thats bad, they are tough, but any injuries in a drought like this are going to multiply their chances of not surviving. He probably will be fine though. Lucky he got out of the fence, I hate seeing dead deer hanging from fences

We had a 3 legged deer for a couple of years. It was blown off at the shoulder, not at the knee. He could S#1t and git on 3 legs. I bet that guy will be fine.

try to keep up with him especially with pics if possible, i woudl think it would grow back a pathc of white hair and he coudl easily be identified for years. be really neat to see what he grows into.

We had one last year with almost the exact injury, and he pulled through just fine.

It feel confident it will heal. I've seen several deer recover from gun shot wounds. One doe in particular lost her right front leg at the elbow, she recovered and raised a fawn the next year.
