Looking to maybe book with a guy out of Chama New Mexico. Milligan Brand outfitting, anyone have any experience or past history with them. If you have another Outfitter that you would recommend for this upcoming season please let me know. This would need to be Private land hunt with landowner tags. Colorado or New Mexico.

I hunted in Chama for 3 years with Bob Ball (Chama River Outfitters) and saw lots of bulls. He ran a good operation. Never hunted with Milligan but I think their ok.

What's your price range, might be able to get a tag in The Gila, looking for rifle hunt or open to other choices.
Thanks!

If you can get a hunt in Chama with tag for $4000-$6000 you should jump all over that, A landowners tag and guided hunt in the Gila will cost about $7500-$8000 for rifle season (too high demand).

I would not recommend Milligan to any of my friends. Even though I know Ray and most of his guides very well I just would not advise it. Lately they seem to be all about cramming a bunch of hunters on small pieces of property and they won't pay much attention to you unless you got a camera crew with you. Like was said before Bob Ball runs a good operation but he is probably booked up as am I. Look up Triange Anchor Ranch I think Brad and Brian Quinlan had some hunts still available. They have quality property and they are stand up honest guys.

Happy Huntin!

Thanks JAred....my Pops is giving you a call just to comfirm what your opinion is of Milligan. Thanks for the input.

I have another outiftter that has hunts in the Gila for 6500.00.
Sounding like a better choice.

I have hunted several times in Chama and the last time I hunted there was with Rick Roads at Back Roads Hunting. He had some great areas and guides. I tagged out on the second day with a nice 6 x 6. The accomodations and meals were good.
He has his own hunting show now so I don't know if that has affected the hunts or not. At that time he was as good as you could expect for an outfitter. You should be able to find him online.
Don't remember for sure but he may spell his name Rhoads.
