Found my first dead buck yesterday.. Thank goodness I havent found any recent deaths from the heat but it still stinks to lose one like this.. Pretty he was a casualty of the rut and a real nice buck for a 3 yr old

Might have been the victim of a road hunter or a misplaced shot on a bordering property. Would have been a nice buck this year.

Same thing happend on our place, found a nice little 2.5-3.5 YO 10 dead from the rut we asume. His bottom jaw was still atached, teeth say 3, cam pics say 2.5 so we go with either one. I did a euro and it will be the first one in the new camp house. It really sucks to see your up and comers turn up dead, our best buck on the place turned up at the end of the season with a bum leg, but seemed to get better, but havent been able to identify since they lost horns.

I am confused. I have no doubt that deer is dead, but a hard horned deer in July will not be found. I don't believe he just died. I have seen hard horned deer in East Texas as late as the 3rd weekend of March. I think he has been dead a while and was not scavanged.
