Anyone know how a Benjamin Trail .177 cal air rifle would do for turkey hunting?

Never tried it but I would think you would uneccessarily injure and loose birds with it. Velocity is nice but that is at the muzzle and you are shooting .177 cal pellets that barely weigh anything.

I'm sure you could find someone on the internet shooting elephants with em but c'mon.

my .177 single pump Hammerli with 1250 fps will lay out squirrels at 25-50 yds.
turkey would definitely have to be a close head shot.
is it legal to shoot Turkey with a pellet rifle?

Hunt, no. Shoot, maybe... You can't hunt turkey, or squirrel for that matter, with an air gun, but depending on local ordinances you can 'shoot' just about anything with them if there is reason - think squirrels in your attic or attacking your chihuahua. I have yet to see a case that turkey might qualify for, though they can sure wreck a garden in a hurry.

Using a Air gun to kill any game animal will get you in trouble. There was a story in the Press releases over a guy who was charged with several charges steaming from shooting a squirrel with a pellet gun in his backyard, really wish I could find it. Next based purely off of ethics disregard the laws just ethics why would you want to do it ?

NO... not legal in TX, and .177 is not nearly enough power. You need at least a .22 or .25 for small game in states where airguns are legal hunting, and with minimum fpe limits. Most real hunting air rifles are at least .30 or .45 caliber; 4500 psi PCP, big $$$ custom guns. Think $2K easy, plus accessories. Forget Walmart.

Turkeys no. It's a bogus law as far as small game is concerned. Should be voted down.
