Besides cloth what is the cheapest thing I could attach to a blind frame made of 1x2s looking for a high quality $20-$50 blind option Frame should only run about $10.

OSB = $8 a sheet. Or mud and straw.

If I go through with this I'll post it up. Only remaining question is will the 1x2's hold the OSB sheets.

Old privacy fence, free, but would want 2x3 frame. some here have said they use 1 x 2 frame. Some say the deer can see you thru the cracks. guess he hunts with a ball bat.

Otherwise, burlap sack or cattle panel,baling wire and tree limbs (evergreen such as cedar)

i thought about using Harbor Freight tarps to make a blind. use cheap backer board on the inside of the frame and tarp on the out side. not mine but example:



another ideal. i built a Am-bush blind. it sits in the bushes about 25 feet from the feeder. i used 1x2's and 2x2's for the frame and stapled camo burlap to the outside.

Scot, I sell lumber for a living and here is my two cents: Use at least 2x4 for the frame. It will last longer and it wont break and move as easily. As shown in this post, you can use a number of different things for the wall, but you want to make sure the frame is there to stay. Personally, if you're building the blind to stay, I wouldn't use OSB either. I'd use treated lumber and PLYWOOD. OSB will fall apart and flake on you much sooner than plywood

not political season, but those political signs that are made of corrugated vinyl (or whatever it is). Grab a few of the larger ones. They will last forever. I used one as a wond break in a blind I had that had no wondows. I used it for more than 10 years before abandoning the blind when we lost the lease

If you are wanting cheap and just looking for it to serve its purpose for a couple of years - I use what they call "underlayment" on my "not so permanent" modular blinds. They sell it at Home Depot. It is wood and resembles masonite or paneling but will hold up a bit better and longer. Its lightweight as well. Slap a bunch of paint on there to act as a sealant. I would use 2x4s regardless.

I can tell you from first hand experience that the Harbor Freight tarps will not hold up for more than a season. If you're going to put it over a backer board you might as well just paint it.

corrugated plastic. It's what Monarch uses on their lower end blinds. It's the yard/political signs are made of. Get the thickest mil you can.

The problem is that after a season or two the side that faces the sun takes a beating and needs to be replaced. I will post up some pics next time I'm at the lease and you can see the above stand with one side that has already cracked and needs to be replaced.

Was it painted? Normally it's the UV light from the sun that eats up plastic. I'd think a good quality oil based paint would stop that but then I'm not sure about that as I've never tried it.

I saw the corrugated sheets at home depo they were pretty cheap as well and were 4'x8'. Ultra light weight and easy to install. (staple gun with long staples or roofing nails, sometimes we have used screws with a washer as well)

For something a guy doesn't plan on making permanent it works great!

go to store that sells laminate for countertops. ask for backers ( the underside of most desks and tables) this is treated paper with melomine resin. it comes in different size sheets and will last forever. i would recommend 1mm thickness. it is also cheap and can be painted or just left brown color it comes in.

Well.....I've got 40 sheets of PBU/U-panel that is stacked and like-new. I might be able to let that go. Of course, it's narrower than a sheet of ply-wood but it'll last a lifetime. I'll post pics later today if anybody is interested.

i had my eye on this stuff at my lumberyard. wasn't sure how it would hold up to the weather. thought about using it on the inside of the frame of a tarp covered blind.

i use it as outside skin. it will never rot. make sure you use lots of screws to secure it because it will warp if not screwed down tightly. i use this for roof also. i cover with USB bard then overlap the sheets on the roof. if you silicone around edges before you screw down and between the overlap
i also have found foam padding ( i found at company that makes coffee cups, pens, all of the imprint stuff that companys give away) to cover the walls on the inside to help keep out the cold and makes it more quiet. I think i gave $1 for 3'x4' pc.

Post the pics and a price. I need to build two 4X6 stands and will be needing to cover them with something. Weight is a factor as they will be on towers and the lighter the stand the easier it is to stand up ya know.

I priced these same sheets at our metal yard and they run a little over $20/sheet. Now I'm not in a bind and I can't sell these "as new" as the corners have minor bends but I'll entertain offers around $15/sheet....depending on how many you want. The picture is of the top sheet so it's a little dirty but I'll pressure wash them before pick up in Eastland.
