I currently hunt deer, dove, rabbits, and coyotes.

I have always been interested in hunting ducks, and intrigued by sandhill cranes. Unfortunatly, I have never known anyone that hunts either.

I don't know where to go, what to use, or how to use it. I need a duck hunting mentor.

I don't want to be the guy that comes on here saying "let me hunt your place for free", but if someone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh boy another one, myself and several others have been down this same road. I made the transition 3 years ago and last year I didn't go deer hunting at all. When this bug gets a hold on you it can be devastating to any kind of other outdoor activity you used to enjoy. I have all the gear including a dog. The dog is what really makes it click for me.....

yep, me too! since getting hooked on waterfowl i only bow hunted once, one squirrel hunt, and killed a couple pigs. the rest has been all about ducks. if your married you might wanna keep a good lawyer on speed dial. my wife hates my obsession. i dont think she would divorce me but i bet it crossed her mind a time or two when im restringing decoys all over the livingroom, prcticing duck calls, waking up the house at 3am banging around trying to get out the door to go huntin ect. just got a new dog too. im sure that will only add to her frustration. good luck!

That's my life...my wife is coming along though. Mostly because our oldest son is starting to ask questions and really show an interest in hunting. He's not old enough to go but she can see how bad he wants to...

Lake Lavon has waterfowl hunting (or they did a few years back) and you can walk in there I am sure. Lots of shallow water up there and can hug a tree and watch em fly over.
