Saw a deer in the back yard so of course the natural hunter in me says I need a feeder. Had an extra one at the farm so I brought it back. Are there any hints to help deer find the feeder. We've lived here about 6 months and have only seen one deer but there should be some deer in the area. Have heard lots of people talk about huge deer in Parker so I'm trying to figure out how to get them to visit my feeder.

Have you tried to send an e-vite? I also heard that corn in your feeder works.

Fill it and turn it on, they'll find it. Along with the coons and the pigs. I don't think you want it too close to your house.

If you are not able to hunt at your house/property, it probably wouldn't be a good choice to bring a feeder in as what was mentioned above. Also, you definitely don't want to start what has happened to the area around West Lake Hills & Lakeway here in Austin!

Before you bring in a feeder and go to all that trouble, you could try some dumping some deer mineral along a trail and set up a trail cam to monitor it first.
Bucks and does will find mineral quickly, this will give you a chance to see what bucks you have roaming around there. Make a decision after a month of camera pics.

I'd say feed them deer in the backyard...then you won't have to mow the grass and the wife's plants will be destroyed also. Nothing like having a yard full of ticks also.

We have a couple acres in the back so if they do start showing up I fully intend to hunt them. With a bow though. Just curious how big of a pile of corn to give before giving up on it.

I put out a plastic kiddie pool of water for my pigeons, and the deer found it in less than a day. Now they wander in and out like they own the place, at all hours. I feed the pigeons a mixed grain that has soybeans and corn mixed in and the deer hoover it up - PDQ!  It's going to be easy pickin's come Oct....

They will find it if you put it out via some type of feeder or if you just dump it out yourself a little at a time.

Subdivisions, neighborhoods and homeowner associations can be a different story when it comes to discharging a firearm, hunting with one or archery equipment. Something to know before it's too late: Restricted Areas in Counties It is against the law to: -hunt in a subdivision with lots 10 acres or less in an unincorporated area of a county if the commissioners court, by order, prohibits the discharge of a firearm or the use of archery equipment in such subdivisions. (Contact local county clerk and ask about 235.022, Local Government Code.) -hunt on any area named as a wildlife sanctuary, nesting, or propagation area. -hunt anywhere that hunting has been prohibited by county or city ordinance.

I "hunt" the small place my in-laws live on, 20 acres, in NE Parker County. I have seen some good size bucks there. Last year I didn't want to set up my feeder so I just dumped corn on the ground and they found it within a few days. They will find the corn no matter what.

I put a feeder out on my 6 acre place 5 years ago and they found it in no time. I get to shoot pigs and coons in the off season from the back porch.  Got a good bow stand on it too for the skillet heads.

Was talking to the bow guy at Bass Pro on 288 in Pearland last year. His grandpa (I think) owned some land (14 acres I think) in some sub-division in Brazoria County that doesn't have restrictions on hunting. He arrowed a nice buck last year that proceeded to jump his neighbor's fence and die in their lawn....
In the middle of their Christmas party. Little awkward, but an awesome story.

Put one out and you will for sure tag out on does in no time. If you need help with the feeder, let me know.

The deer in my neighborhood between Azle and Springtown are pets. They walk right up to the house to get Apples. Hope your two acres are somewhere else in Parker county. 
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!
