Has anyone every grilled squirrel? I am thinking if you clean then, stuff them with a jalpeno, garlic, some rosemary and thyme, tie it up with a strip of bacon around it, it would be pretty good. Kind of s like a small game bird.
Anyone ever done anything like this to one?

I would think that it would dry out. Not any thick parts on it like a bird breast.

Give it a try and let us know.

Im thinking it would dry out too, and if it wasnt a newborn squirel it would be tough as all get out. In my experience rabit squirel and things of that nature either have to be eaten at an extremely young age or stewed for a long time to tender them up and wont dry them out. Im sure other opinions may vary, but its just my experience with it.

I think it would be ok. We eat grilled rabbit all the time at the lease and it always turns out good, but i've never eatin a squirrel.

I was worried about the drying out too. I was hoping to beat that with wrapping it in thick cut bacon. I'm just trying to give the meat more flavor. And at our camp we have a grill to cook with and thats it.
I think I'll have to try it this fall, but was hoping someone had maybe tried it.

I have grilled tree rats and rabbits and they turned out ok. There are better ways to cook them, such as in dumplins or fried.

Put in in a brine first (make it hold more moisture) and then grill.

We smoked some Rabbit once and it was not bad tasting but the texture was a little to mushy for me.
