I was told by a guy that monkey chow/primate biscuits will kill the coons because they can't digest them. However, if anything else (cows, deer, pigs) eat them it won't harm them.

Anyone try this? The coons are killing me this year.

I will buy a truck load if it works that good. I had a trail camera picture of 15 coons having dinner under my feeder. Tired of those things stealing $10 a bag corn! Darned things emptied a 300 lb feeder in a week.

Thanks for the respones

Trap and shoot, wait until trapping season, trap, case skin and sell the fur and meat to a wholesale fur buyer to re-coop some money for feed.

Or get a trapper to do it for you now.

Another option is to install these predator guards:

http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/birds/woodduck/wdnbox.htm

If your feeder is not near or under any trees, there isn't a coon that can access your spincast feeder by climbing the legs.

Your saying that the coons can't climb the legs? i have 472 pictures out of 1500 in a week that can prove you wrong. My feeder is nowhere near a tree either.

Last thing i want to do is sit there and blast coons during hunting season.

Did you read what I wrote, if you put the predator guards as they are in the link above on your feeder legs 3' above the ground, the coons would not be able to reach your spincast feeder. And I didn't say wait until deer season.

Wow, learn to understand a sentence. Like the saying goes, it takes all kinds.

Wow, maybe you should follow your own advice...Learn to read a sentence.

I asked if Monkey Chow works to kill coons.......i didn't ask about a boy scout project of building wood duck boxes.

You got the saying right.....it takes all kinds....unfortunately there are many like you!

You should probably verify all of the legalities involved before proceeding, just in case.

You claim what I offered wouldn't work and I didn't give you a reply to Monkey Chow since I never used it, but offered another remedy to solve your problem. Nowhere were you suppose to build a wood duck box, just the predator guard.

You have to learn to read before you understand something, that's why you still don't understand.

Hey Dwalls,

I talked to a couple of guys that have tried those and said that they don't work. They have also tried to use carpet tack strips, 6" pvc pipes over the legs and they still climb up them.

Hey Dwalls,

If you look under the varmint section you'll see a post about raccoons. There are alot of people on there saying that the cones on the legs (kyotte's brilliant idea), sharks teeth, tack strips, razor wire......don't work. just thought i'd save you the money and time of trying them.

just need to kill the darn things.

I wonder what would be worse???

Coons acting like Monkeys, or Monkeys acting like Coons???

And could anyone tell the difference????

Just a thought that popped into my head :-)
