I am building a couple of blinds. I have a question for those that have built some before. 1) What is the best type of widow to use, hinged, sliding, or other (something I am not thinking of)? What dimensions is best for front and side windows on a 8 x 6 blind? I do not know if it matters, but the blind will on a 4 ft high platform. Thanks in advance. Mike

A few of my preferences when it comes to blind windows... Height above base for bottom sill = 39" Height of opening = 9" Watertight Quiet On an 8X6 I'd probably have two 30" windows on the 8' side and two 24" or a single 36" window on the 6' side. I'm building a 5'x7' blind now and am putting in 36" windows on the ends, 2 - 33" windows in front, 3 - 16" windows in back because of the door. TheHunted is on this Forum, check out his windows at http://www.deerviewwindows.com/. I like the "Hinge Window".
Good Hunting, Gary

Deerview windows are great! Use real (untinted) glass so you can use binoculars with minimum distortion with windows closed. Hinged to the inside. Anything over 4 foot wide and you will have to move your chair to look or shoot left and right (slow, noisy and a pain in the rear) which will wear you out. Build shutters that hinge out and up to control sun, wind and rain that completely cover the window opening. Bigger is not better. 4X8 is about perfect for two hunters. On a 4X8 I use 5 windows (each with shutters). You do not want a cheap stand, get comfortable, get there early and stay late. You cannot shoot big deer at the camp house or if you shoot small ones first.

That is a nice looking blind. What is the window dimensions 28 x 1w or 28 x 10? Also, how wide is it?

They are 28x11. If you dont want to slide the windows the glass is completely removable. It is a 4 x 6 blind. I built everything so let me know if you have any more questions.

Don't forget one of these for the floor. I put one in the 4'X 6' that I built and it really cuts down on noise. Better than carpet in my opinion. I got one on sale for $29.00. http://www.tractorsupply.com/equine/hors...x-6-ft--2219003
