True.. personally I think droubt years are the best years for hunting.

To much water ducks are scattered and ponds are to deep, and puddlers can not get to the food.

Drought years as the tanks get lower the more food available.... as time flys you now you only have your really deep holes with water.... but those holes use to not hold ducks now...those holes have two things...water and attainable feed...and all the little holes are gone..... you have deep holes your golden.

You don’t want rain now, need duck holes unflooded so vegetation can grow over the summer, then flood out the duck holes in the fall. I really do not care what it does during the summer, but I sure want some rain this fall, or flooding should I say.

Last week.

When you're in a drought with even more forecast for the forseable future, and your spot is entirely rainfall dependant, hang on to whatever precious water you have as you may not be getting much more to hunt over in the next 90 days. At least that's my $2 cents worth.

Cappy ... At my side for thirteen years, in my heart forever.

I heard that we are curently in an El Nina and that around August or September the weather patterns are supposed to switch over to an El Nino. I hope that is true. Last year was bad enough! If we continue on this pace with no recovery before the season, it may be another 06 like year.

Live to hunt, hunt to live.

That last sentence is what has a lot of folks really worried now, and hope not, that one was a bad one for sure.

Shot my first limit that season, it was my 3rd season duck hunting. It would have been an easy limit of green if I knew what I was doing.. That was my first spoonie too. grin

Looking at some old pics of the 06-07 season... that was my second best season so far('09 has been the best). We killed 122 birds in the month of Jan. alone that year.
