saw tons of mongoose on Oahu
they brought them in to help control the rats, but the rats are nocturnal and the mongoose are diurnal

so, net result is lots of rats and lots of mongoose.

at Hanauma bay, they will sit and bathe in the water puddles under the freshwater showers not more than 20 feet from you.

Actually they brought them in for the snakes in Hawaii. Hawaii used to have a bad case of brown snakes like Guam. Now there are supposedly not a snake one in Hawaii.
