Went to Cabela's yesterday to buy the grandson a cheap 22 pistol for snakes and hog's caught in the trap.

Did the paper work, nothing new, done it several time before. Went and did some other shopping and went back to the check out counter for my pistol, and the man said my paper work has been put in delay status until next Wednesday, what, you got to kidding me.

In my many years of buying guns, this has to be the lowest feeling I have ever felt. Imagining that this guy at the counter, thinking I am some kind of criminal or something.

I guess I have to look at it on the bright side, I get to make another trip to Cabela's!

I don't have a very common name. HOWEVER...

Someone with my exact same name born in the same state I was born in was/is a convicted felon on multiple counts. The first few times I tried to buy guns I was actually denied, not just delayed.

I guess they've figured it out though - haven't been even delayed the last few times.

A CHL would eliminate that issue...

That happeend to me when I bought my .308 at Cabelas about 2 months ago. I was shocked and since I knew the guy at the counter, so was he. But 3 days later I got the call and went back and got my new rifle.

I feel ur pain there...I have some moron with the same first and last name but different middle initial (D instad of B) and he has the most scrwed up credit is the country. I get calls at least once a month from electric companies, student loans, department stores, etc. He has left a trail of debt from washington state to Vegas to the south...

The big problem is the ignorant skip tracers (collecters) are to stupid to research the middle initial. Don't we all just love the information age.

Update: Less than 24 hrs later I just recieved a phone call from Cabela's saying I have been cleared and I could come a pick up my pistol. I guess I am not a terrorist after all.

I know it is suspose to try to keep guns out of some hands, but when you are cleared, cleared, cleared, and then delayed, when nothing has changed in my life. I may be on their watch now, to many cleared's.

So went ahead and volunteered for the LSBA Youth Archery Range at Cabela's Saturday and I pick up the grandson pistol after that. It's all good.

good for you...however, with out current "gubment" the "to many cleared" may not be far off.

had it happen to me on a shotgun of all things before I got my CHL.

That CHL is worth having especially if you buy guns....

Ya, that is funning and a LEO card not worth nothing!

Actually I was gonna ask. I have never had to wait hardly any amount of time with the LEO pass. Usually within minutes and it's a done deal

I used to ALWAYS get delayed.. I mean, every time
I was told it could be because I had been in the military and had a TS clearance which apparently puts a flag in the DB that I had deep background check done on me..

having a CHL sure makes it a lot easier these days!

You should have bought another pistol when you go to pick that one up just to see if they let you walk out with it.

You could always just tell them you changed your mind after they ran the check again.

Plus you could pay a tax to arm yourself! Had a bit of a problem last time I visited that store. Had changed my mailing address that I had for over 20 years to a mailbox instead of a PO box. Had not moved, just an address change that I should have taken care of. Was buying a very nice shotgun from the gun gallery and my DL didn't match my address. Gent went on line with my approval and changed my DL online to the correct address. Got a bill from DPS for $10.00 bucks. This took a WHILE. Know the guy was trying to sell a gun but he didn't have to do this. Cabela's are good people. (Didn't tip BTW).

Ya, I got a little upset over the situation, and had to take a deep breath, realizing it wasn't their fault. It's just embarrassing stand in line, others standing in line and get turned down. I will be a little more prepared next time, that it could happen, and it want throw me into shock.

Did they call it in or do it online?

I am not sure, I did not hang around, I had stuff to look at. Someone else might be able to answer that.

Every time I have bought from Cabelas they called it in.

Darrell, Cabelas had to call Vickey and make sure she had given you permission to buy a gun. That was the delay.... LMAO
