I see that from time to time, Academy is selling a 40lbs bag of protein for $7.99, which is the same price as corn. Anyone have any experience with this product ? How have your deer taken/consumed ?

I use it and the deer (and hogs, coons, etc) love it.

Only use it in a moisture-free environment, i.e. a feeder that has zero leaks or it will instantly turn into a mushy mess. I'm not kidding - it will completely disintegrate the instant a drop of water touches it.

But it has worked well for me.

don't use it in a spinner type feeder. Like cameron said, it will clump with a drop of water.

Did they charge you sales tax? Bought 12 bags this afternoon and was charged sales tax. They acknowledged no sales tax on corn but said need to charge it on the protein. Never paid sales tax on protein before. Not sure of rules in this area. Would like to argue but want to be on solid ground first. Surely we have some tax lawyers out there that are hunters - how about a little pro bono here?
