Did it change the playfulness of your dog?

One of my dogs favorite activities is fetching balls and Frisbees, however he's unreliable on birds. So I'm gonna force fetch him this Summer.

Do you think he'll lose his love of play retrieves?

If done correctly it will not change his love to retrieve and/or play.

Mine are required to return all birds, bumpers, etc. to hand. All balls and other toys do not have to be delivered to hand. They know the difference between work and play time.

Get him with/you get with someone who has done it before and have them walk you through it. My dog was a better dog all around when we got done with FF. In fact, his desire to hunt and retrieve was much stronger and his attitude was much better when we were through force fetch. I did it my self, but had SEVERAL people help me with it and walk me through it.

Your dog will be just fine. He's just going to learn a work ethic that's all,,,,,, once he's done with ff.
