OP js4242 Bird Dog J Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 374	So for the past 8 years a couple of college buddies and I have been getting together to bust chops and catch up with each other since we are scattered across the country. We've been going to Vegas, but that got a little old. So we decided to try some fishing instead. Headed down to the keys and got a guide for some tarpon fishing. In 8 hrs we had 9 tight lines and got 6 to the boat. The others either spit it or broke the line. Largest went 90lbs with the other in the 40-60lbs range. Those things fight like hell. You thought they were whipped until they saw the boat and would rip another 75 yds of line off. I've been fortunate to catch a marlin and some tuna, but nothing compares to a tarpon on the end of the line. It was a bucket list check off, but now I just want more action. Maybe the next trip will be "hunting" them in skinny water and actually casting to them. No sharks chasing them, but we caught an est 150lbs nurse shark off the reef. This is the guide we used - http://streamlinecharters.com/ Good guy and worked hard for us. We were going to chase sailfish and spend more time reef/wreck fishing but the tarpon action was too good to pass up. Slim - That's got be a blast on a fly rod bmowatt - If that's your former life I would love to know what you do now to give that up!

I'm a pretty in shape guy with good upper body strength....but I tell ya what..I caught 3 fish in about a 5 hour period...and thats ALL I WANTED!...Like trying to reel in a gun safe full of bricks
